I’ve written up hundreds of adventure ideas, but if you like even more inspiration, here’s how you can roll up thousands and thousands.
I’ve turned my adventure type list and parameters into a Perchance page.
These will always feel random, because they are, but the art of adventure design is to find interesting ways to link things together. Those fanciful explanations create a connective tissue that holds the whole thing together, and the weirder the pieces, the more interesting the overall result (unless it goes too far and becomes nonsensical).
If for some reason the embedded version is broken, here is what it looks like….

Here are a few more…
- Do some exploring in an abandoned mine. You’ve heard you could find a magic item, but you might also stumble across a packet of letters revealing the secrets of a sinister faction. But you’ll have trouble with a great serpent.
- Elude murder by some thugs of a rival faction caused by a need to cover shame. In the process, you could find a mysterious artifact. But you may have a little trouble with zombies and skeletons.
- Spy on suspicious activities in a ruined coaching inn for a noble. You could be rewarded with a magic item. But you may have trouble with an evil priest and his cultists.
- Retrieve a collection of valuable books and scrolls (needed to close a gate) in a ruined church. You could find a magic weapon. But you may also have trouble with a vampire.
- Rescue the son of a local official from a vampire and her minions at a manor. You could find a mysterious artifact. But you may have trouble with a small band of orcs.
Compare those to these entries from my list of 800 adventures.
