Two Part Leather EDC Kit

EDC wallet pouch and pocket protector kit

Not long ago, I switched my EDC kit to a small hard-drive case. But since then, I’ve decided that a two-part system is even better. I now carry the leather set in the two front pockets of my jeans.

Brown Leather Wallet Pouch & Pocket Sheath

The Hide & Drink leather pocket protector carries a 711L ratchet driver and Steinwhale stubby bits and extension, a pencil, Fisher Space Pen, tweezers, and a 5″ ruler (cut down from a 6″ one). I modified the pocket protector by cutting off the superfluous front flap and cutting down the back. Perfect match for my slim wallet pouch in the other front pocket.

The leather wallet pouch contains an Olitans folding scalpel, mini-Sharpie, and a rubber band wrapped around a packet of ibuprofen and a small organizer tin. There’s also a band-aid, gum, moist towelette, a Fresnel magnifying lens, and a couple of extra scalpel blades.

The organizer tin contains my house key (I normally enter thru the garage), Imodium-AD, couple of screws, flash drive, safety pins, paper clips, and a compressed towelette for soaking up spills.

Bonus

I now carry a third mini kit. This is a 5″ tin almost identical in size to a standard Altoids tin popular with EDC nerds but longer. It fits nicely in my front jeans pocket because it’s less than an inch thick. I’ve switched the pouch wallet to my back pocket.

This carries my ear buds, a peanut lighter, tweezers, a 6-foot tape measure, a couple of cards I rarely need, a couple of mints, a cough drop, a compressed towelette, and–in the lid–a moist towelette, and a packet of my favorite Cajun seasoning. I’ve used a length of 1-inch gaffer tape (with a slightly shorter piece on the back) to create a retainer for flat items in the lid, so they stay out of the way.
